Casualties of Conversation

Basically, when you are unsure about hanging out with people, it is probably because you are somewhat insecure about the conversation and whether you will have fun or not. Sometimes, there are people who I would love to reconnect with, but for whatever reason I choose not to hangout with them because of the first casualties of the conversation. This even applies to people in my family. It is hard to hang out with people when you know you will spend most of the conversation explaining: where you live, your job, school, relationships, goals, etc. But after you get past that first, "What the fuck have you been doing in your life?" You get to the real conversations, you get to the fun. This is why when I first meet people, mostly at bars, I choose to stay away from the mundane questions, such as:

"Where are you from?"
"Why are you out tonight?"
"What is your major?"
"Where do you go to school?"
"How old are you?"
"What is your name?"

"Does your face have something interesting to say?"

Recently I have been ignoring my friends, and it is really easy to do that because if they don't live here I don't see them that much, also if they do live here, I don't have time to go see them. And once you start not talking to your friends, it is hard to start talking to your friends. Dodging calls, not responding to texts, "FB wall? wtf is that, I didn't even know you got on this thing." Just kidding, but after reconnecting and getting over the, "what have you been doing?" You can get to the, "Is _____ the same in the _____ and the _____?" :)

One of the easiest ways I've made money

(excluding that one time on the corner...)

The last two days I have been substitute teaching for elementary level kids in 01: music and today 02: computers. Let me tell you something about kids, they say some pretty awesome and some pretty random things. I'm glad to never have to deal with them on a 24/7 basis, but it was fun watching them play/sing to "Grizzly Bear," and "Old Gray Cat." Crazy kids.

Only imagine this: a small room with 20 kids and you in it, you have never heard this song before, and the kids are singing along with a cd player. You forget to pay attention once the song starts, and the kids get really, really quite (because they love this song), then BAM! The grizzly wakes up, and the kids laugh at you because you jumped in fright! Good times.

Only in our rendition, the kids crawled around the room girls the cat, and boys the mice, and then chased each other. a fun musical game of tag. :)

So this one kid and I had an interesting discussion:

Yesterday in Music
Kid: "You like black a lot, don't you?"
Me: "Yeah, I guess I do." (looks down at what I'm wearing) "Only my pants are black."
Kid: "But your shirt has black in it, and so do your shoes. And that yellow just really sticks out."
Me: "Hmmm....ok, anyway..."

Today in Computers
Kid: "You again!"
Me: "Yep, still here."
Kid: "You REALLY DO like black!"
Me: "It is my favorite color."
Kid: "Does anyone call you Goth? Black pants, black shirt, black fingernails, black on your wrist, black heart on your shoe..."
Me: "No."
Other kid: "Goth."

Weird kids I tell you.
01: My shirt was maroon the first day, my pants were dark purple the second day, my shoes were purple, one day I had rainbow shoe laces, AANNND I like to wear black.
02: I so do not look Gothic.
03: That was a really hilarious experience.

March 2nd

Today is the Vets' birthday. Happy birthday. Cheers, I wish I could be there and also can't wait to see you guys!!!

JP: my friends are always saying, "I want to meet this man, you always talk about this John Pham guy."

To which I reply, sadly, "Man? That sounds so weird, I mean everyone I know are boys and girls. To be a man you have to be (clenches fist toward chin and shows teeth), we aren't ladies, I mean we still have snacks, naps, and I make them all play with toys!"

Wah, I'm just a baby. The big Two-Five makes me feel like maybe it is time to grow up, but honestly I can't foresee that happening. I mean I just love toys way too much!

P.s. I have been called lady like ten times in the last two weeks by freakin' 80 year olds, and if I get called lady one more time I think I will snap. Seriously?! You are like a million years old and I am 24 why are you calling me lady? You crazy old psycho.

Bonfire!

Well a week ago we had a bonfire and it was pretty tight. It all started when Ash started drinking at like 1530, what a champ. Anyway, I guess Coal was up there drinking with her and then finished a 12er by the time I got there, needless to say it was a pretty toasted night (as you can tell from the smiles-not that we aren't happy people, shiny-happy people....dancing).

This next one is actually a really good picture I think.

Pretty cool shot from a hill.

FIIIIIRRRRREEEEEE!

It was a pretty big flame, good thing too because it was balls cold out there.

The stars were really pretty though.

And I made it to work on time the next day too...I am such a trooper. Tonight is Mothing's birthday celebration because she was working yesterday and I was sick (puking my guts out). So we are going to go to the Rail and probably the Rose. Have a nice weekend, I will be in Redding tomorrow, maybe I will see something cool. Also, tonight the wind was blowing really hard and the sun was setting, so to the West there was a patch of light, bright blue sky with clouds lining over it that had that sunray light around it. Then to the East the sky was, I kid you not, periwinkle! I took some pictures and will look later to see if the camera caught the magic of it all, but textbook periwinkle. The only thing that was lacking was unicorns and I would have thought I was in a fairytale. Aw.

P.s. Have I mentioned how excited I am that the year is 2010? 1020, 2010, same thing only one is backwards. Ha!

Lunch with Mothing

Last week my Mothing and I shared a delicious lunch, here is how it was done:

Make some meat, this was round steak, cut up, mixed with various sauces and spices.

Then you take a spinach tortilla and melt a little cheese on it. mmmMMMMmmm.

Add some topping like cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce, A1 sauce, and Uncle Franks....and cheese!

This is what you get, a delicious nutritious lunch to share with anyone you want! Boy, am I hungry now!

Hard Days Night

And I'm working like a dog. If only my life was like a Beatles song, wouldn't it be nice (not to accidently quote the Beach Boys....ekk).

and just for fun because I love the Beatles:

More Swag Less Bark!

For those of you that search the interwebbings a lot, I highly suggest you become a member at SwagBucks. What you do is search what you would normally search in google, or whatever search engine you use, through the Swag engine. This will give you results from google and ask.com anyway and you have the chance to win SwagBucks. Then after you acquire so many Swags, you can trade them in for gift cards. You are probably thinking that this is a scam, but Hiu has done it and got the gift cards before. If you think about it, you spend all day searching google, you might as well get some free shit while doing what you normally do. I search facebook instead of typing in the URL, or whatever site I go to. It's easy, it's free, and you profit from it. DOOO ITTTT! Here is my referral: http://swagbucks.com/refer/batshavewings Click it, you know you want to.
